Alienware M17x R3 Specs Leaked with Sandy Bridge Chipset |
Two days ago, images and performance specs of the as yet unreleased Dell Alienware M17x R3 were posted on the Notebook Review discussion forums. The latest revision includes the unreleased Intel Sandy bridge chipset, as well as new Intel Core i7 processors. News of this raced across the social networks and landed on a number of competing sites, so we thought it best to chime in with what we know about the M17x R3 revision and can talk about under non-disclosure agreements. |
Little is known about the full hardware configurations of these systems, but we do know they will include Intel GMA HD integrated graphics as well as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M and AMD RadeonHD 6900M dedicated graphics. Performance stats of the newer configurations are limited, although the leaked information seems to provide a glimpse of the 3DMark06 performance stats of three different configurations. The first with Intel GMA HD graphics and the Intel Core i7-2630QM quad-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz scored 15,940 3DMarks. The second with AMD Radeon HD 6900M dedicated graphics and the Intel Core i7-2720QM clocked at 2.20GHz scored 20,155 3DMarks. The last configuration with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M dedicated graphics and the 2.3GHz Intel Core i7-2820QM managed 16,957 3DMark06s. |
We don't expect more details on this system to officially be released until after CES 2011 in January. NBR will be there in force and providing coverage on this and other important announcements. We will also have a full review of the M17x R3 revision when it becomes available, so stay tuned for more information. |
